Pre & Peri-Natal Support

Pharmaceutical Grade Support for Expectant/ Nursing Moms and Their Babies

Just as maintaining  optimal neural function, and cultivating a healthy mental and emotional outlook make for  better physical health, so too does the proper nutritional support for our bodies make for more resilient  mental health and a better experience in pregnancy and in life. With this in mind, for cellular health, Liberty Brain Training offers you  and your baby the pharmaceutical grade prenatal vitamins that are recommended by New York Times Best Selling Author of “Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom,” and “The Wisdom of Menopause” Dr. Christiane Northrup.  If you are not yet pregnant, but are considering becoming pregnant, Dr. Northrup recommends that you consider taking these perinatal vitamins  (which are scientifically tested for safety and produced in an FDA-Registered Facility) as early as a few years prior to becoming pregnant.

NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback for Pre and PeriNatal Support

Did you know that the neural development of a baby’s brain may be effected by the level of stress experienced by the mother during her pregnancy? Numerous scientific studies indicate that the psychological and emotional health of a pregnant woman may have consequences for her baby’s neurobehavioral development, and thus, result in consequences that are long lasting. Traditional pre-natal care has fallen woefully short on addressing this issue. For example, gestational diabetes is far less common in pregnant women than depression, yet pregnant women are routinely screened for this disorder, but they are not screened for depression, psychiatric illness or even just general stress levels which often contribute to depression.

When a woman who already struggles with chronic depression becomes pregnant, she often feels like she is between a rock and a hard place. If she goes off her medication in order to spare her child the possible harm of being exposed to her medication, she may tumble into deep depression, which would also cause her baby potential harm. What is a mom-to-be to do?

The Boston Globe published an article  ( http://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/health-wellness/2012/11/05/antidepressant-risks-during-pregnancy-lead-tough-treatment-decisions/47dSySs6q8172sBHfuxmxI/story.html) in 2012 that addresses this important issue.

Here is a quote from the article: “…researchers from Boston IVF and Tufts University took the controversial position that ‘there is no evidence of improved pregnancy outcomes with antidepressant use’ while there are established downsides, such as an increased risk of miscarriage, preterm birth, and behavioral problems in newborns.”

Thankfully, Neurofeedback is an effective option for expectant mothers who want to feel their best without risking their baby’s health with medication. Studies have shown that Neurofeedback helps to alleviate symptoms of anxiety and  depression (http://www.zengar.com/files/File/research/NFB%20Anxiety%20Hammond.pdf), without the risks associated with taking medication. These risks include  pulmonary hypertension in the newborn, heart defects,  anencephaly, low birth weight and more.

NeurOptimal Neurofeedback, which is 100% passive and non-invasive, is chosen by  expectant mothers not only for help with prenatal and postpartum depression, but also for help with the sleep difficulties which are so often associated with pregnancy.  Because there are none of the negative side effects that can result from the use of other Neurofeedback systems, and because the results are long lasting, mothers-to-be can rest assured that they are giving their baby the best opportunity for neural development and themselves the support they need to be fully present for their children.

Birth Into Being Sessions

Birth Into Being sessions are a graceful, yet powerful, way to neutralize a mother’s (and father’s!) own unresolved birth trauma or other difficult life experiences which occurred during the formative period (from conception through early childhood)  which leave a negative imprint on our nervous system. Resolving these issues is known to make for a less stressful pregnancy, results in fewer complication with birth, and facilitates an easier  transition into the role of parents.

Hypnosis

Hypnosis is popular among expectant mothers, as it is an effective tool for building confidence, as well as an excellent aid for learning relaxation and pain management techniques

Eating Psychology Coaching

Many pregnant women have a difficult time accepting the changes in their body. Body image issues that existed prior to pregnancy are often exacerbated once a woman is with child. What is not not commonly known is that, because a baby cannot differentiate itself from the mother while inside the womb, and does not until about 7 months of age,  how a woman feels about her own body is how the baby will be wired to feel about theirs. Eating Psychology coaching  can help a woman grow into a more  easeful and loving connection with her body, which will then, in turn, set up her child to have a healthier relationship with theirs.

The energy in the relationships of the primary people in the baby’s life profoundly affects the new zygote, embryo, and fetus. The more stress in the relationships, the more the baby has to accommodate to the stress. If the mother is engaged in, relatively at ease with her life and coherent with her own history, then the energy of her primary relationships supports the baby to grow and function optimally.

Birth itself can not be taken out of the context of life in general. If people want to give birth beautifully and gracefully, they need to learn to live beautifully and gracefully. It starts with ourselves. If we don’t really know what it feels like to feel safe, what it’s supposed to feel like to receive love, or give love, unconditionally, without hiding, or being scared… How can we teach somebody to do that if we don’t know how to feel it ourselves?
